1. How do you meet Angela and her friends?
One day I was eating lunch alone expecting that nobody will talk to me. Angela and her friends were on a table near me. But I didn’t notice them, I was just eating quickly and begging to go back was the place I belong. Suddenly I saw that she begin to walk towards me. But I thought she isn’t walking to talk to me maybe she is going somewhere else. But no she smile at me and ask me if I want to eat with her and her friends. I answer expecting that she was talking seriously and said yes. That was the moment when I met her everything was perfect they were funny and very kind with me. I wasn’t expecting that people like that invite to be a part of their group.
2. On what situations do you meet them?
On what situation, I understand that you are talking about my feelings. I was feeling lonely and lost, because everything was very complicated in my life at that time. I was new in town and I just want some friends but it seems that nothing works. Because I try several weeks to make friends and no one even try to talk to me. When she finally talks to me I feel like I was being part of something. For me everything was new and unexpected, because I moved from a little town to a big city like Indianapolis. I just want to feet and Angela makes feel like that.
3. What happen after you meet them?
After I met them right at that time, you mean after lunch. Nothing. I just stand-up said that it was a pleasure to meet them and go away. But I stay with them the entire break laughing and having a great time. But I thought that all end there, they will never talk to me again. And I was wrong when I was arriving home I feel that someone was screaming my name. And yes, it was Angela; she was running after trying to talk to me. When she finally arrives, she told that only if I want, I can spend every break with them. And maybe know each other better, for that moment I thought, Oh! Finally I can be with someone at the school. And I just smile at her and said yes, that I will love that.
4. What are the fishers of men?
When I first hear about the fishers of men, I thought that it will be interesting. But with the time I realize that it was dangerous and risky. Because the fishers of men was a church, a strange church with some beliefs that don’t make it different from the rest. They were a little cult that was dedicated to wash people’s brains. They were trying to get advantage of them and make them think that all that they do was to protect you and that it will give you the love of god. Because they were very prepared to face any situation, for example someone that doubt about their faith or stuff like that. The problem was that some people of the church were taking advantage of people good faith. They want money or sexual favors and that wasn’t appropriate for a community leader. That was the fishers men, people that take advantage in each opportunity they had.
5. How did they convince you to join the fishers of men?
When I first met them I thought that I finally had some friends to hang out or just to be at school together. But after several days they begin to talk about their church and all the fun things that they do there. And finally one day they invited me to go to a party on a Saturday night. And I was impressed because, I make the transition to be alone to have friends, so I said yes. I thought that my parents wouldn’t care about me joining the church because they never care about religion or going to church. So I went with Angela to the party and had a great time. Then at Sunday she invites me to the church and I decide to join.
6. At the beginning what do you think about the fishers of men?
I thought that finally someone was letting me in. That was perfect for me because I was new and I already had to face rejection from other people at the school. I like it because that was a part of being with Angela and the other guys. So I was willing to accept the situation and accept the fishers of men in my life. When I first arrive they make feel like home, they treated me with respect and kindness. They talk to me, they include in the conversation and that was enough to me. I only wanted to be accepted and have some friends. But I think now that they were the wrong friends.
7. What consequences bring the fisher of men to your life?
It is complicated because they leave me many scars. They leave problems at my home. But I think that there were some special things for example: I have to get money to be a part of the fishers of men. Some other situations were that I didn’t have time to study or make my duties at home. I couldn’t spend much time with my family. I always had problems with them because sometimes they didn’t admit my continuous absents. But there was thing that for me was one of the worst consequences. The fishers of men want that I convince my family to be a part of the church too. Al though my family didn’t like that kind of stuff so I have to stop. And just admit that they didn’t want to be a part of that.
8. Who do you meet inside the cult?
Besides Angela’s friends like Lara, Brad, Jay, Michael and Kim, who they were with Angela the first time that I met them. For example almost all the teens inside the church have a specific characteristic. They are all cute, yes can you believe it. They are all share that in common. Inside the church, like every church has its pastor, on this case his name was Pastor Jim. He was very fascinating leader of the fishers of men. There were other people, other families that were caught inside this church, which spent a percentage of their money on the church. They were people that commits to this church and believe every single word.
9. After all the things that happening what do you think about the fishers of men and the cults?
I don’t know really what to think about them, because they made part of my life. But there are some adjectives that can easily describe how I am feeling about them right now. They are selfish people, which only care about money and themselves. They took advantage of naive people that only need a place to trust. They are thieves because all they do take away people’s money to be richest. They are liars because they make people believe in things that they maybe never believe on and they have talk about certain behavior that they didn’t respect it. Finally this people that only tries to take advantage of good people are a part of our society, we don’t have to like it or accept it but we have to make our part and complain about them.
10. What is your recommendation to young kids that want to be away from this type of things?
I think that the best advice is to be yourself, if you don’t like something and you got a choice just don’t do it. Never feel like someone or something can force you to be something that you don’t want. It just too hard to behave in a society like this but if you are yourself all the time and you act correctly maybe we can make an advance. This is a hard situation because you only want to fit in. but there are limits that you never should cross. There are things that you have to be far away because thy can easily catch you.
